Post-Christmas Detox Diet

After a month with holidays, alcohol, fatty foods and sweets you may feel bloated and want to get rid off them extra pounds you got these days. Its time to start the New Year positively and optimistic. 

The best way to refresh your metabolism is to detox your body and your liver, lungs, kidneys and skin will thank you for that. 

 

Why is detoxing important?

Detoxing helps your digestive system to work properly by removing the toxins, dead cells or parasites from your body.  So the body start to find its balance and you will feel more energetic and slim. 

 

Some tips on detoxing your body

Some people use Detox Diet for getting rid of toxins and some others for losing weight. The important thing is to feel comfortable with your body. You can detox your body in home with not big sacrifices.

1. Eat protein

Include in your meal, fish, white meat, beans and eggs to make sure that you are getting the right amount of proteins. Cut out heavy or wheat foods, full of sugar and starch. Also avoid red meat and dairy. 

2. Avoid salty foods

Reduce salt in your diet because too much salt lead to high blood pressure. Its also dangerous for the heart and liver. Instead choose foods with low sodium or LoSalt or Solo Low Sodium Salt.

3. Eat regularly and control your portions

You should consider eating every 2-3 hours, 3 meals and 2 snacks during a day. Do not eat before sleeping or be sure your meal is digested before bed. To control your portions try using small plates, eat often in small portions, in that way you will not feel hungry.  

4. Eat foods rich with antioxidants

You know how important antioxidants for your interior and exterior health are, they renew cells and fight diseases. They also help in getting rid of toxins and boost you immune system. Eat: tomatoes, pomegranates, blueberries, avocado, grapes, broccoli and beetroot.  

5. Drink plenty of water and herbal tea

Drink at least 8 glasses of water to cleanse your body. Cut the caffeine from your diet and go for herbal tea instead. We suggest lemon, green or ginger tea that are caffeine free and boost your digestive system and heart health. 

How long should the detoxing process last?

It depends on your reasons of detoxing. If you simply want to flush out bad toxins, a week or 10 days is recommended.
If you want to lose some pounds you have to detox for more than a few weeks but be sure to find a detox diet suitable for you because it can cause health problems.

  1. In this diet people often avoid food from eggs, milk, coffee and some food available. Because these foods will actually make you gain weight more and nutrients it's really not necessary.
